Fun Funky and Functional Folk Art!
Bayou Folk Birdhouses, Folk Art and more!
Updating website. It will probably take till the end of February.
Backwater Studio produces Folk Art (including backyard habitat and birdhouses) that reflect the nuances of the southern country, coastal and bayou regions.
A visit to our gallery and we will have you smiling at our funky fun folk and functional art, backyard habitat - bird houses and and so much more. We are having fun and we invite you to come visit and enjoy.
Our folk art is painted with regular quality house paint and treated with polycrylic resin which has a very low amber luster and designed for longevity with overhangs on the bird house doors to alleviate rain infiltration. The birdhouses have 30 year shingle roofs, wood shakes or slate roofs with resourced wood, quality new cedar or marine plywood.
What inspires my art - well, it goes back to a poem recited by Helen Hayes called the "White Magnolia Tree" and the Paul Harvey "Rest of the Story" is at this link:
Why did I come to Mississippi - this link will answer that question. It had nothing to do with "Magnolia Trees"......
And that's it in a nutshell - thank you for dropping on in. I hope these pieces of whimsy leave a smile on your face!
