Phew, made it through a very busy and stressful week. But, I have to thank Ivan - my warehouse is spotless, yard is spotless (barring the few tree limbs scattered about), the laundry is done, and the house - cleaned and mopped it twice for good luck. My goodness, a few days locked home to deal with the home base has been good for my lifestyle.
No art projects this week - although a few great finds floating that I rescued. Those will be "soon to be art projects".
Going to rescue the vehicles out of the warehouse and get on with the weekend.
And, yesterday, the day after Hurricane Isaac landed :
I was out on the porch this morning - and there was this large redback spider vainly trying to save one of her egg sacks from the web in the water in a large pot I had left on the porch. A full 1 3/4" across - she had to be the largest redback I had seen. Isaac had obviously made havoc of her chosen spot to store the eggs sacs.
I quickly put another pot over the first pot as it was starting to rain again and she was desperately tugging at the sack that was above water.
I checked later this afternoon and she had detached the sack from the first web and moved her to the top of the dry upside pot. As I turned over the pot to take the picture - she quickly moved to huddle over the egg sack to protect it (not letting me take a picture of that bright red spot on her belly - but thats ok. I understand.
Who said spiders dont have "feelings".
This is paradise - and life is good!
